This policy explains what wildlink.online collects, why, and what you can do about it. The site is operated by Wildlink, an independent publisher, which is the data controller for the purposes of this policy. You can reach us at privacy@wildlink.online about anything described here.
Information we collect
Information you give us. If you email us or leave a comment, we receive whatever you send — typically your name, email address and message. We use it to reply and to manage comments, and nothing else.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our host records standard server logs including IP address, browser type, referring page and time of visit. We also use analytics to understand which pages are read and how people arrive, in aggregate.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. This site uses them in three categories:
- Necessary — required for the site to function, including remembering your cookie choices and, if you comment, your details.
- Analytics — help us see which articles are useful and where readers come from.
- Advertising — used by third-party ad services to select and measure ads. These are only set where you have consented, in regions where consent is required.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time through the cookie settings on this site, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how the site works.
Third-party services
We rely on the following services, each of which has its own privacy policy:
- YouTube (Google) — every article embeds a video. We use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode, so the player does not set tracking cookies until you press play. Once you do, YouTube may collect data under Google’s privacy policy.
- Google Analytics — aggregate traffic measurement.
- Google AdSense and other advertising partners — where advertising is displayed, these partners may use cookies to serve and measure ads. You can review and adjust Google’s ad settings at My Ad Center.
- Our web host — stores the site and keeps standard server logs.
Why we are allowed to use your data
Where data protection law requires a legal basis, ours are: your consent for analytics and advertising cookies; our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site; and legal obligation where we are required to retain something.
How long we keep it
Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so that follow-up replies can be recognised. Emails are kept as long as needed to deal with the matter and for a reasonable period afterwards. Server logs and analytics data are retained according to the relevant provider’s standard retention period.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, to receive a copy in portable form, and to withdraw consent at any time. Residents of California and certain other jurisdictions have comparable rights, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them.
To exercise any of these, email privacy@wildlink.online. We will respond within the period required by the applicable law. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
International transfers
Our hosting and third-party services may process data in countries other than your own, including outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, those providers apply their own safeguards for international transfers.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS and we take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold. No website can guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our practices change — for example when advertising is introduced. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
