Questions, corrections, or something you heard and can’t identify — all welcome.
We read everything and reply to most messages within a few days.
Corrections
If you think something on this site is wrong, please tell us — particularly if you can point to a source. Animal communication research moves, and some of what is widely repeated online turns out not to hold up. We would rather be corrected than be confidently wrong. Corrections are made openly and the page is dated.
Identifying a sound
If you are trying to work out what you heard, a recording helps enormously — even a poor phone recording. Along with it, the rough time of night, your general region, and whether more than one animal was involved will usually narrow it down. We cannot promise an answer, and we will say so when we are unsure.
